Boasting an affordable ($23) semi-fixed 3 course brunch menu from their pop-up shop now become brick and mortar restaurant in NW downtown #Portland, their dish descriptions alone will get you going!
Fresh squeezed apple raspberry juice and house bloody mary to start. Juice was great, bloody very mediocre. Since I'm a sucker for biscuits & gravy, that was my automatic go-to, with absolutely no regrets. Fluffy buttery biscuits smothered in thick 'n' creamy chorizo gravy, with an egg, spicy syrup and wilted spinach on top. Woah!

Next course was a difficult decision, omitting the fortune cookie waffle in favor of the poppyseed crêpe, covered in key lime curd and coconut-yogurt semifreddo with blueberries, brûléed kiwis and white chocolate drizzle.
My other half ordered the Rice Krispy crusted french toast schmeared with New York cheesecake, poached rhubarb, watermelon jelly and baby basil... Good Lord! Saved most of this dish for later and it apparently ages very well. 😆

Despite a short wait due to them not taking reservations, but rather, utilizing a waiting list system, the service was impeccable and food unforgettable. Our little one was entertained with coloring activities, food, and other onlookers while we were whisked away in culinary ecstasy. Their creatively crafted menu lived up to its every word. Thank you!

Chennai Masala runs an excellent lunch buffet (11am-2pm) reasonably priced at $11 with a decent variety of freshly replenished items. The buffet line and restaurant were very well maintained, dirty dishes removed immediately and hotplates never empty even right up until closing. Staff was friendly and attentive, food was DELICIOUS! The Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Gobi, and Navaratna Kurma were a few of my favorites, along with the Biryani and Mango Lassi of course! Looking forward to returning soon.

Next up on my Portland Pizza Week adventure, stop #7 at Via Chicago, only blocks away and swiftly moving us forward into the following phase of fantastic flavors. What we had here was a spinach & artichoke dip deep dish pie and it was absolutely amazing! Preemptively ordered an extra slice after the 10 minute well-worth-it wait (the longest I'd experienced during pizza week thus far) and did not regret it. They were gone mere minutes after being plated. The savory layers of this pie and robust sauce made for an incredible visit. If I want a deep dish pizza that reminds me of my roots in Chicago, this is where I'll go! So good!

Stop #6 of Portland Pizza Week was at the appropriately named Bella Pizza that I was thoroughly excited to visit, with their special slice consisting of a garlic & olive oil base, topped with kale, cacio e pepe, herb gremolata, and grated grana padano...this blew my mind! Tasted like my ma's good ol' spaghetti pie... a cheesy pasta dish pizza slice... sure my Nona would say bravissimo too! Vegetarian wife and baby girl also enjoyed some slices, eating them almost as fast as me!

Our final slices at stop #8 were from The Station Pizza Pub, serving up a rather unorthodox rendition of our beloved and classic favorite. Sprinkled with crispy chickpeas, marinated, asparagus, arugula,
& Mama's lil peppers and a tahini yogurt sauce on top, this slice took the taste buds for quite the spin. Indian Italian delight on medium crust, lightly savory and a pleasant finish to a day full of pizza.
Pretty neat, historic building too... bit more on the bar side of things rather than a family resting, but bring em along!

Stop #5 was at Atlas Pizza and I knew I just had to try this slice since reading it's description. Spiced n smokey jerk chicken splashed with a sweet passionfruit barbecue sauce, plus house-pickled mangos... One of my favorite pizzas yet. The sweet meaty and cheesy menagerie of flavors were quite the mouthful. My pics don't even do it justice. Juicy chicken, just the right crisp to the crust, and the mangos really do bring the pie together as they said. Delicious day to say the least.

Stop #4 of my 2019 Portland Pizza Week adventure featured Atomic's 'Spicy Chester' loaded with grilled chicken, red onions, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, marinara sauce, pepperoncini, and you guessed it, Flamin' Hot Cheetos. The slices were covered in toppings and definitely filling. Not something I'm crazy about or would ever go out of my way to try, but glad I did since it was a rather unique twist on a traditional dish along my path to another Atlas Pizza. Friendly staff and quick service for a Friday lunch hour. Thanks!

Stop #3 of Portland Pizza Week at Atlas Pizza on Division, serving up a savory smoked pancetta, mozzarella and fontina cheeses, hot peppers, scallions, and a sweet honey drizzle topping... Mmm!! The crust was slightly over crisped with a faint burnt flavor, but was really a great texture/consistency. Couple slices with a pint of Anderson Valley Brewing Company Burnt Amber and I was set!

Stop #2 right down the road was at 🍕 Blackbird Pizza and somehow was even more tasty than the previous pizza. Their special slice was topped with juicy fire roasted corn, mozzarella and chevré cheeses, cilantro, tajin and a mouth watering adobe pepper aioli... Mmm, wish the 2 slice limit could be lifted! Very creative and unique flavor from this slice!
This location was not too busy and quick to serve up a hungry customer with smiles! Excellent pizza concoctions for the occasion. Thanks!

Starting this Portland Pizza Week off right with stop #1 at 💋 Hot Lips Pizza on Hawthorne. Not even a fan of mushrooms, we quickly devoured a couple of their special pizza week slices consisting of basil pesto, mozzarella, sauteed mushrooms, and delicious globs of Portland Creamery goat cheese... perfectly crisped crusts and beer to sip with it 👍. Several craft brews on tap made the 2 minute wait very tolerable 😆.
My vegetarian fianceé loved this slice despite not being incredibly fond of goat cheese...if it can pass her test, it's gotta be good!

Went for the Spooktacular Drag Queen Brunch and had an absolute blast enjoying the performances, slamming $2 mimosas, and devouring their delicious food. The menu items are creatively crafted, albeit a bit overpriced given the portion size and innovation of ingredients. I thoroughly enjoyed their Biscuit & Sausage Gravy even though I could have eaten it 3 times over, just not for $16 per plate. My wife ordered the Veggie Hash and really loved it too. Great service, everybody was so friendly with us and our adorable baby, making the whole experience a very positive one. All of the staff and other patrons contributed to the welcoming atmosphere.

Pork Belly, Duck Eggs, & 3 types of Bloody Mary's! Enough said...
Excellent little restaurant (actually not so small once inside) one can easily overlook as just another breakfast diner... well, it's that and MUCH MORE. With their own house baked breads, creative plates and cocktails, plus personable service, Toast is a true neighborhood gem that I look forward to returning to again and again.

I had my eye on the 'Belly B' from the get go. Unfortunately, they were out of duck eggs when we went in, but that didn't put a damper on the deliciousness yet to come at all! I ordered the 'Badass Sandwich' on their perfectly toasted, thick-sliced Rosti bread, including several savory bacon strips, a light layer of goat cheese (enough for most, I coulda used a bit more), field greens, and 2 eggs... Woah! Talk about a game stopper!! It definitely filled me up along with the accompanying hash brown patty, which, as you can see, was also fantastic in flavor, texture, and finishing cook time. My buddy ordered 'So Benny Choices' with their sausage and had no regrets. Also a Morning Glory cocktail with Black currant, lemonade, ginger syrup and tequila that he thoroughly enjoyed!
Our server and the chef/cook were all pleasant and polite, adding immensely to the extremely positive experience. I have already recommended Toast to multiple people and shall continue to! Thanks for the great grub and hospitality!

Indulge yourself in this "elevated" corner cafe's creatively on-point offerings, laid back service, and well lit location. I'm a proud, self proclaimed Biscuits & Gravy snob who would gladly return for the same serving only a day later, having thoroughly enjoyed the perfectly portioned mound of 2 fluffy biscuits slathered with sufficiently spiced, housemade sausage gravy, scallions, and 2 eggs anyway you like it (plus a great deal at only $9.99... almost unheard of). Incredible flavor, definitely made the top ten out of hundreds tried.
My girlfriend, equally if not more picky than I, ravaged her plate of the black bean Benedict accompanied by their savory home fries/chopped potatoes and garnished with a tantalizing mango salsa. Let's not forget their lengthy list of innovative, booze infused breakfast beverages (some non-alcoholic too), including several concoctions of their own along with unique twists on traditional favorites, such as the blackberry basil Mimosa...mmm! Can't wait to return!
I would highly recommend this establishment for either a quiet, low-key morning meal, or a hyped-up hipster outting on Hawthorne....great neighborhood if you hadn't noticed while starting at Google maps.
Thanks!

Went in with our 10 month old and thoroughly enjoyed several uniquely crafted beers, tasty pub fare, and the friendly service! They have a 3-5p happy hour for food and 3-6p for beer, the former packing some really affordable eats!
Cherry Cream Ale to start (light, slightly fruity, refreshing as could be), Sweet Heat to follow up (excellent bite from the peppers and all around well brewed beverage), and ended it all with the Lime in the Coconut (low ABV, kinda salty sort of lime flavor, not my favorite, but still decent). I ordered the double stacked tavern or pub burger, with fries and pub sauce, satisfying to say the least. Nothing too special but was what I expected. Fries were nice n crispy! Baby ordered the Mac n Cheese and my wife loved the butternut squash with coconut milk base soup of the day. Our server was prompt and politely brought our daughter some apple slices to chill her out so we could wet our whistles in peace!
The interior and outdoor seating afford a considerable amount of space for large groups and just to have some elbow room for yourselves.
Thanks Burnside! Will definitely be returning and finding more of your beers on tap/in stores!

Not interested in waiting for a table, we sauntered into the bar and quickly found a table near the bar with quite a lovely view...the primary reason we came. The Reindeer Alfredo was pretty good, whereas my other half thoroughly enjoyed one of their signature dishes, the Crab Stuffed Halibut...it was fantastic! The accompanying broccolini were outright horrible unfortunately and tasted of excessive salting, putting a slight damper on an otherwise lovely dish - which the polite waitress acknowledged and rectified immediately (good on her)! Pricing per quality of food was a bit disparate, but you're clearly paying for the view. All in all, left satisfied! Thanks!

Mmm sustainable reindeer meatloaf n craft beer whilst abroad! Stumbled upon this gem while visiting Talkeetna for a few nights and was pleased by their food and brew. Worth stopping by for a pint or bite of pub fare. Friendly service, neat location with patio and indoor seating, very inviting central spot along the main drag of town.
